NYで結成、現在はPhiladelphiaを拠点に活動中のKatie Bennettによるプロジェクト、free cake for every creatureが2枚目のアルバム『the bluest star』をリリース。

デビュー作である『talking quietly of anything with you』も素晴らしくて、インディーファンを中心に密かに人気を集めていたfree cake for every creature。

最新作もKatieの友人を迎えたバンド構成で作品になっているが、今作はKatie自身の家でレコーディングされたとのこと。

2曲目の「around you」などインディー・ポップ好きにはたまらないであろう楽曲から、4曲目の「shake it out」ドラムマシーンを活用した宅録インディー・ポップな楽曲まで収録された今作。

共通するのは少し切ないメロディーとローファイで心地良いインディーサウンド。「in your car」や「christina's world」のようにアコースティック・ギターが活きたフォークからの影響を感じる曲もあるし、とにかく曲が良くて、Frankie CosmosやForth Wanderers、そしてStella Donnellyなどもっとフォーキーなアーティストが好きな方にまで届くアーティストかと！
